Earth and Air at the Susan Hensel Gallery
Sure seems like I'm posting a lot of show announcements lately but these things have been happening in clusters. This is the card - front and back for my upcoming show at the Susan Hensel Gallery in Minneapolis. The show will be up for the month of May and I will be at the gallery for the reception on May 21.

Waxing Lyrical at the Mercy Gallery
Time seems very compressed to me lately - so much happening in a short timeframe. I have an artist-in-residence coming up at the Loomis Chafee School in mid-April. The exhibition referenced above is in conjunction with the residency. This overlaps with a solo show at the Susan Hensel Gallery in Minneapolis - more about that on another day. Lot going on getting ready for both exhibitions since all the work for both has to be out the door at roughly the same time. Spending a lot of time choosing work, finishing the last few pieces, getting organized!

Nano, Micro, Macro - a Matter of Scale - installation shots
Here are a few shots of the Nano, Micro, Macro show installed at the Duderstadt Gallery. Ironically enough I didn't get around to shooting the show until it was time to deinstall it.
Always startling how fast it comes down compared to the amount of time and effort to install a show. We had a lot of help on this show - Ryan set up the AV stuff - I never photographed it but we had a projector aimed straight down showing some of our source photography on a large screen on the floor. It was quite a project for Ryan to get it all set up in the lighting grid.

Nice review of Nano, Micro, Macro
is here.
Meanwhile my life has been largely taken up with starting the Milan Art Center. I've been blogging about it here and haven't been in the studio as much as I'd like right now between a lot of teaching and getting the art center started. Its first fundraiser is this weekend - a silent auction and flea market and the outpouring of community support is really inspiring.
Meanwhile the aforementioned teaching took me to Kalamazoo a few weeks ago to teach a long intensive encaustic workshop to a group of gifted high school students through a remarkable program called 4 weekends at the KIA run by ESA . Here are some images from the workshop - bright, creative kids + incredibly supportive organization= delightful weekend of teaching.
